Horsham District Plan update

Published: 06 March 2020

The Draft Horsham District Plan is now open for public consultation. This is a long and technical document that sets out planning policy for the next 15 years.

Horsham District Council need to establish a Plan that will allow private developers to build up to 22,500 new houses by 2032. They are aiming to achieve this through a mix of large ‘strategic’ sites (these are sites that propose more than 900 homes) together with smaller development sites and sites identified in Parishes' Local Neighbourhood Plans. One of these strategic sites is the new market town proposed by Mayfield Market Towns Ltd.

HDC has published the Plan and supporting documents on their website, that you can access here.

There are also reports relating to the categories within the Draft Local Plan that the Inter Parish Group has commissioned, and LAMBS (Locals Against Mayfield Building Sprawl), which can be found on their websites: Inter Parish Group website LAMBS website

It is important that every parishioner has a chance to register their views with HDC, and this can be done online, or in writing if the comments are submitted on a specific form requested from HDC directly.

Woodmancote Parish Council will be running a couple of drop in sessions during the consultation period for those who are unsure how to find the documentation or how to submit their comments, dates of these will be confirmed shortly.
